The words that I usually cite when I am asked the question “why so mad” about the pending termination of the off-line deals (e.g., what the market is doing, uncertainty, etc.) are Mark’s first sentence in this e-mail below, more so than any others. He writes things simply.
“Price volatility could be reduced.”
I am hard-pressed to see how the termination of on-line deals and the reduction of off-line deals reduces the price volatility. The reduction of on-line deals is a good thing, I believe. Let’s hope for the best.

Philips TV is actively trying to suck even more money from you by requiring users to install an app to access its web portal. Does this world need yet another app? Oh and don’t forget to remove the app if you plan on uninstalling or moving it to a different device.
What’s worse is that Philips has been providing web access to users by pointing them to the unofficial Android phone, tablet and PC portal. Yet, the web portal doesn’t work.
To make matters worse, Philips has even made changes to the web pages designed to redirect users away from the unofficial portal, but it does not seem to have a plan on how to actually fix this. A quick Webmaster tools change of a redirect link, followed by an un-redirect link in the page, failed.
In fact, Philips has been actively removing web links and webshops in various countries that supposedly provide or were providing access to the web portal. This is most likely also the reason the Telenor web portal is being blocked in Norway and mobile phone portal is being blocked in Germany.
Currently, according to the official statement from Philips’ IT department, they have identified the change of the web pages as the cause of the issue. However, nothing has been said about how they plan on fixing it.
Pressing users for an official app does not make any sense at all, considering how the service is provided and you have a 60-day refund policy on the official portal. Personally, I would rather get a 60-day refund on the official portal, than have to install an app to access the Philips TV web portal.
The only solution in my opinion, is to have the service restored to its original state.
Philips TV Web Portal Issues:
The web portal is no longer available.
The official web portal redirects to the unofficial web portal,
