# Image and Placeholders

When you open a file in Affinity Photo, you are given the option to add or delete a **placeholder**. Placeholders help you get your pages set up faster and guide you with how many pages are in the book.

How to Edit an Image in Photoshop

Introduction

The first step is to open up your image. You can either open it from your computer desktop, or if it is stored on your phone or tablet, then open it from there.

Once you have opened your image, the first thing you will want to do is edit the image to get rid of any unwanted features, artefacts or any other unwanted elements.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the steps involved.

Steps to Editing an Image in Photoshop

Step 1 – Selecting the Background

Before you start editing the image you will first need to find the background.

How to Select the Background

Open the photo in your favourite photo editor. This can be any photo editing app on your computer or phone.

For this example, we will be using the GIMP.

Click once anywhere in the image to select the entire image.

Now make sure the the back selection button (the button where the arrow is located) is located on the right.

Click this button and drag the background around until you find the background that you want to keep.

Note: Be careful not to click and drag on the areas of the image that you don’t want to keep.

Click back on to the right hand side of your image. This is the background that you selected.

Step 2 – Clicking on Pixel in the Image

Now click on any point in the image and go to the top bar and click on the trash can icon. This will turn the tool you are using into a paint brush.

Click on the paint brush.

It should now be selected as a brush tool. Click where you want to change the selected area of the image, then click and drag where you would like to start painting.

Note: Photoshop is smart. If you have selected too much of the image, or selected too small an area, it will alert you to this and ask if you wish to continue.

The servo controller 109 processes the servo control signals from the servo demodulator 110a to generate a composite servo control signal, such as a positioning signal. The preamplifier 107, read channel 108, servo controller 109, servo demodulator 110a, and positioning signal generators 109 generate servo control signals for positioning the head 105 over the servo track 106.
The ESTW 104 usually includes an electromagnetic disk-writing device for positioning and/or marking the servo track 106 for storing servo control information in an embedded servo field. The head 105 is mounted on a slider, so that it can be positioned over the servo track 106.
