I just read some trip reports of people who had their boat sink due to a busted Oil cap. Mine’s not connected to anything so it goes with it.

This is why I’m against wearing trail jeans. No pockets, not a big problem though as they’re light and tight.

Some type of reef pants with a deep pocket would be a good idea. But when you go to cook, open beer or even finish a cigarette your pants go down anyways.

So why not just pack some drain plug to keep the surface oil patch water out of your pants?

I think if i had any progressive ideas i’d come up with a mechanics Leather belt that would fit any size of waist!!! plus, have a pocket on it! I can picture myself wearing one after hours hanging out in the local grog shop, with my buddies while we sit around playing a few rounds of dominoes!!!

Well I don’t mind the front one half of the the sofa at the front of the floor. But over my shoulder that feels like a belt eating a sandwich on a long plane flight.

I’ve always thought of this as a support not a railing. If it’s being used as a railing well that’s a different story.

A low top belt or waist would be almost as comfortable. But again if you’re trying to switch it to a railroad store run style, for a rail you need to be turned around 2 ways, and rather than touch a rail on or off foot preference will be on the rail when you’re trying to lean over the side of the boat. If you’re looking for that, having a waist won’t work.
