How to dynamically change the theme of a s:window when it is created?

Basically, I have a form that has a fieldset tag and I need to change the theme based on what the value of the fieldset tag is. For example, if the fieldset value is null then make the theme bold. If the fieldset value is any other value then make the theme regular text.
So far I’ve tried using several of the and tags. None of these methods seem to affect the theme at all.
Has anyone run into this problem before and found a solution?

I know this is old, but to anyone looking for a solution, I have created my own custom as3 component to do this. I am using the mouseDown event to set the theme, so I don’t have to mess with updating an sObject or updating the theme each time a field is focused. Here is the sforce functionality, hope this helps someone:
