Q:

HTML5 Canvas possible bug when a letter is moved to outside bounds of the canvas

I have a very strange bug with my browser, where a letter drawn in canvas bounds will not render. Below is a screenshot of what happens. (The problem is not the cursor, or the text “a”: it is an independent bug – the example at the bottom does not have the bug)

In the example below, the letter is outside the bounds, but it has not rendered.

I used Google Chrome version 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit), tested in a Windows 7 x64 machine, without any ad blockers etc.

Is there a way to fix this kind of behaviour? Any ideas to think about?

The issue is the font you are using.
I have created a jsfiddle that works. The font (monospace one) I have used has specifically this property:

It is a bit misleading as the letters render. The way the font renders is such that an even more detailed word (for example abc) is not rendered as a full visible word.
It is a bit tricky to see the difference, but it works. The letter abc is rendered in my jsfiddle as ababcbb.
