Changes to Player Movement

In addition to numerous new control schemes, FIFA 22 introduces the new “ON/OFF SELDOM GONE” (OSG) control scheme. After you successfully trigger an OSG-controlled maneuver, players maintain the movement you use to trigger the maneuver. If you want players to become more explosive with their passing, shooting or crossing, simply place the Q-button down for an OSG pass, or down-button/pass for an OSG shot. If you want to quickly change passes into shots, you can trigger the OSG pass via a quick tap of the Q-button or a quick tap of the A-button.

With the ability to trigger OSG passes without disturbing players’ natural movement, you can pass the ball with a first touch that allows for an instant reverse pass. OSG passes also create greater space for the pass receiver. OSG players can receive the OSG pass by simply tapping A.

In other general movement-related changes, FIFA 22 adds pre-determined pre-shot (PS) sequences that players can choose from. By selecting a pre-determined PS sequence and placing the X or Y-button in your primary shooting direction, you can now trigger a pre-determined PS sequence in addition to OSG passes. When triggered, the pre-determined PS sequence still has the same number of steps, but it executes a different set of moves to look more natural and player-suited.

FIFA players can now sprint with a stiff animation by performing a slide tackle with the X or Y button in your shooting direction. Additionally, players can now sprint with a fluid run animation and take a position directly behind the ball with a slide tackle.

Using OSG passes allows players to retain a natural sprinting animation, but with far more freedom of movement due to the lack of interruptions from the OSG pass itself. Players can now run with a more natural feel, and the animation is smoother and more fluid than what FIFA 21 could manage. To sprint with a fluid run, slide tackle into a run and wait for the player to actually sprint – using this method, players can overcome interference from OSG passes and sprint in any direction.

If you don’t want to use OSG passes to complete a pass, sprint, or shot, you can use the FIFA Pass System. Any type of pass can be triggered by using the Pass System
