Photoshop is not the only image editing program, but it is the most widely used image editing program, and with good reason. When starting out as a beginner, you will want to edit your images in Photoshop, no matter what format they were created in. Plus it has the most features.

However, there are other programs that are perfect for beginners and that will allow you to make great edits to your images. You can also learn Photoshop with a free online tutorial.

This article is only going to cover Photoshop, so I’m not going to mention other software, because that is really beyond the scope of this article.

The Beginner’s Photoshop Raster Image Editing Basics

There are some basics that you should know before you begin on Photoshop.

1. Open the file. You will see that it has a PSD file format. PSD is the standard Photoshop file format, so all images that you open in Photoshop should be in that format. This allows you to use a variety of editing techniques. 2. Create a new layer. You are going to create a new layer in your Photoshop document. This makes a new area for you to work in the image. 3. Select the Layers palette. You will see that there are multiple layers in your document. To select the new layer, press the spacebar on your keyboard. The Layers palette will appear, showing you all the layers in the document. Press the spacebar again to select the new layer. 4. Click the Edit menu. Select Edit > Copy. This makes a copy of your layer. 5. Now go to the Layers palette. Press the spacebar to make sure you are on the new layer you just created. 6. Select Edit > Paste. This will paste the new layer into your image. 7. Create your first layer. Your first layer is the background layer of your image. You will use this to create a new layer on top of the image and colorize the background as necessary.

The most famous and widespread methods for editing photos are the ones with the above listed tools. When you use these methods, Photoshop automatically uses auto-leveling and auto-contrast adjustments, and this method is used by most websites, in most blogs, and on most social media networks.

Photo Merge

The Photo Merge feature enables you to combine images from different sources and create new one. You can merge multiple sources of an image into a single background, add a new image on top of an existing image, remove parts of the image, or even create an image from a one of the layers.

Whenever you edit an image, it is important to adjust the levels. Photoshop Elements, like Photoshop, enables you to combine multiple images by means of auto-leveling and auto-contrast adjustments.

However, Photoshop Elements 13 has introduced a feature that enables you to create a selection box manually. The selection box will not only define the areas of your photos but also auto-correct problems in them.

12-episode ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ available for free on Netflix

Rachel Bloom’s musical dramedy “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has found its way onto Netflix, with the 12-episode first season made available for free beginning May 15.

“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” follows Rebecca Bunch (Bloom), a New York lawyer who succumbs to a romantic obsession with her high school crush, Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). Despite the complications from that attachment, Rebecca attempts to move on by entering into a long-distance relationship with neuroscientist Greg (Santino Fontana).

The first season picks up where the show left off in the final moments of its second season finale, with Rebecca Bunch realizing that she has fallen in love with Greg for real, and setting out to win back Josh for herself.

The first half of the season consists of Rebecca and Greg in a long-distance relationship while she works through her own issues. Both the falling-for-Greg and the growing-apart-from-Josh plot lines will be resolved in the second season, though both will be released in Netflix’s traditional half-season block.

“We very much view this show as a long one, and the way we’re planning it out is a whole season of long stories that are all resolved by the end of a half-season,” Bloom told Variety during an interview earlier this month. “With each episode we’re going to be telling a story. For example, in the first episode we will be telling the story of what happens after Rebecca breaks up with Josh and ends up at the courthouse, and that’s this whole story of courtship and dating, and what’s the difference between her in a casual situation and a relationship that she’s getting herself into, and that’s part of that story.”

The second half of the season will be even longer, with Bloom and her co-writers, co-creators, and stars Aline Brosh McKenna and Jake Fogelnest planning to stretch the final episodes to at least 50 percent longer than usual.
